About the Role
As Head of Finance, you’ll be both a strategic leader and a hands-on finance expert, working closely with the CEO and HRD to shape the future of the business. Managing a team of eight, you’ll oversee all financial operations, deliver high-quality reporting, and embed strong commercial thinking across the business. This is a chance to roll up your sleeves, lead from the front, and play a key role in scaling a successful SME.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team.
- Own financial reporting, forecasting, and budgeting to drive commercial success.
- Implement smarter systems and automation to improve efficiency and decision-making.
- Take charge of cost controls, fleet management and stock.
- Partner with the CEO and senior team to drive strategy, growth, and enhanced insights.
- A hands-on finance leader with SME experience ideally having worked in an owner managed business.
- Construction, engineering, manufacturing or project based backgrounds will be strongly preferred - good costing experience will be critical
- Strong commercial acumen with a strategic mindset.
- Proven ability to manage financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Comfortable balancing leadership with rolling up your sleeves to get things done.
- Excellent communicator with the ability to influence across all levels.
- Track record of improving systems, processes, and commercial insights.
- Experience in strategy, growth and business integrations is a plus.
- Agile, adaptable, and ready to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

- Salary will be c.$190,000
- Role is based Auckland city fringe
- MAT leave - initial 9 months
- Salary in the region of $180,000-$190,000
- Quick start preferred based Auckland city fringe
