Some More Information About The Role
In this pivotal leadership role, you will lead the Financial Planning & Performance (FP&P) team, consisting of a large team of talented finance professionals. Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will be responsible for steering the company’s financial strategy through comprehensive planning, management reporting and financial reporting. You’ll work closely with Business Performance Leads to ensure that financial insights drive performance and strategic decision-making across the organization. This role offers the chance to influence the company's future direction while leading a team dedicated to delivering excellence in financial planning and reporting.
Your key Responsibilities will include the following:
- Lead the development and execution of Mercury’s integrated three-year financial plan, collaborating with key stakeholders to ensure alignment with business objectives.
- Oversee the preparation and delivery of concise, relevant financial reports to the Executive and Board, providing insights that enable sound commercial decisions.
- Manage the external audit process, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, and lead the technical aspects of complex accounting issues, including electricity derivatives as well as Crown reporting requirements.
- Coach and develop the FP&P team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation. Empower team members by creating opportunities for growth and skill diversification.
- Implement and maintain a robust risk management program, proactively identifying and mitigating financial risks to support business resilience.
So Who Are You, And What Is Your Profile?
You are a seasoned financial leader with over 10 years of experience, preferably with a Big 4 background. You will need to be fully CA/CPA qualified to be considered for this role. You possess strong commercial acumen, exceptional stakeholder management skills, and a proven track record of leading large teams in complex organisations. Your commercial acumen is strong, allowing you to not only interpret financial data but also provide insights that drive key business decisions. You are adept at distilling large volumes of complex information into clear, actionable reports for executive and board-level stakeholders.
