5 ways to attract top talent
The best person for the job is out there. But what if they aren’t actively looking?
Use these 5 ways to attract them.
#1: Do your employees say positive things?
You can tell a lot about a company by talking to its current employees.
Having employees who will promote you is a huge advantage. The person listening will trust them far more than your company website.
As Jeff Bezos says – “Your brand is what other people say about you when you’re not in the room. When endorsement comes from someone who has been on the inside of your organisation, it is particularly powerful”.
#2: How social are you?
Use social media to post content that promotes your employer brand.
Essentially, to attract the best people, show them what they could be contributing towards by working with you.
#3: Please stay in touch!
Keeping in contact with your past employees is crucial. They might just be the perfect candidate for your next role.
And because you already know what value they bring, you’ll likely be able to slot them into that new role seamlessly.
Plus, if it doesn’t work for them, they might have great connections you can use down the line.
#4: Who’s on your list of superstars?
We’ve all had standouts in our teams, so it pays to keep in contact with those impressive people.
Show an interest in their development, career goals and accomplishments and update them on new projects that might interest them.
Having a list of past superstars could be the difference between a hard hiring process and an easy one. #lovesnetworking
#5: Let someone else worry about it.
There are other people out there who are already connected with top talent – i.e. recruiters. (sorry, not sorry for the plug 🤷♀️)
In all seriousness though, recruiters know where the superstars are, how likely they are to move and what it might take.
They can do the heavy lifting of maintaining the relationships while you sit back and watch those superstars light up your team.
Remember, it’s worth the extra effort when you find the right person for the job.
TLDR;
- Create an environment where your employees advocate for you.
- Use social media to post content that promotes your employer brand.
- Stay in touch with past employees!
- Have a list of superstars.
- Let someone else worry about it.
